Capital Campaign
Building the foundation for Atlantic County's community-owned credit union requires investment. Join us in funding a financial institution that will serve working families for generations.
Capital Campaign vs. Member Deposits
Capital campaign contributions are donated startup capital to support organizing and chartering. They are separate from member deposits, which PLCU cannot accept until after we receive our federal charter and share insurance becomes effective.
Why We Need Support
Starting a credit union requires upfront investment
Unlike traditional businesses, a credit union can't simply open its doors and start accepting deposits. Before we can serve our first member, we must complete a rigorous federal chartering process, build technology infrastructure, and demonstrate that we have the capital reserves to operate safely.
This startup phase—before any member deposits can be accepted—requires significant investment. That's why we're launching this capital campaign: to raise the resources needed to bring PLCU from concept to reality.
As a proposed Community Development Credit Union, PLCU has a mission-first orientation focused on serving low-income and underserved populations. This mission makes us eligible for certain grants and partnerships, but also means we rely on mission-aligned supporters who share our vision.
